K Sounds in English

The “k” sound is an unvoiced sound that forms at the back of your mouth. It’s similar to the “g” sound, but the vocal chords don’t move.  The back area of the tongue touches the palette, or the roof your mouth, and then air is released.  On this page you will find videos that show you how to make various “k” sounds.

This first video shows you initial “k” sounds that are spelled with the letter “c” or the letter “k.”  You may download the words here:  / k / initial.
